Any accountant will tell you one thing is for certain: Numbers don’t lie. That same principle holds true regarding the job outlook for the accounting profession.

In recent years, the numbers point to accounting as one of the nation’s fastest growing professions. The U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics (BLS) forecasts that employment of accountants is projected to increase by 11 percent through 2024, faster than the average rate of growth for all occupations. The BLS states the median annual wage for accountants and auditors was $68,150 in 2016, making accounting one of the better-paying professions in the nation.

While accounting is a thriving and lucrative profession, it can be a competitive one as well. That’s why selecting a college with a top-quality program could make all the difference when it comes to getting that all-important first job offer and then building on that job to advance your career.

At Keystone College, we make sure you receive the classroom training and practical experience you need to hit the ground running. In fact, Keystone accounting graduates have a 97 percent job placement record within six months of graduation, securing positions in auditing, banking, financial services, forensic accounting, cost accounting, government service, and more.

“Accounting is a wonderful professional that can provide a stable career with plenty of room to grow and advance,” said Keystone College Accounting Professor Dr. Patricia Davis. “At Keystone, we’re proud to have a great track record of producing leaders in the field.”

Keystone students receive the training needed to sit for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Management Accountant (CMA) exams immediately upon graduation.

“We make sure students get the right mix of classroom training in a personalized setting and also receive practical experience through quality internships so they are ready to succeed from the moment they receive their degree,” Dr. Davis says.

Recent accounting graduates readily attest to this winning formula.

Jenny Davis, who received her Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Keystone in 2016 says, “I absolutely love working in the field of accounting. I’ve always liked working with numbers because you have to be precise. You always know if you’re right or wrong,” says. Jenny went on to obtain her Master’s degree in accountancy from Keystone in May, 2017, while working full-time as a staff accountant at a firm in Carbondale, Pa.

“Keystone really helped prepare me for what I do on a daily basis. The faculty is excellent and every professor makes sure you are well-versed in the most current practices in the field.”

Emily Balon received her Bachelor of Science degree in accounting in May of 2017and will also pursue her Master’s degree at Keystone. Her goal is to obtain her CPA and pursue a career in public accounting.

“For me, studying accounting exposed me to a different way of thinking. It’s really problem solving and communicating with numbers,” says Emily. “At Keystone, the curriculum each year built upon what I learned the previous year. I learned a lot in the classroom and then I was able to apply it in the field. That’s a great way to prepare for a really great career.”
