Keystone College and the Factoryville community will come together to celebrate one of the summer’s most anticipated events. The 19th annual Christy Mathewson Days will take place Friday, August 8 and Saturday, August 9. The festivities are held each year to honor Keystone alumnus, Hall of Fame baseball pitcher, and Factoryville native Christy Mathewson.

The celebration features a variety of events lasting from early morning through evening at Keystone College and Christy Mathewson Park in Factoryville, bringing together members of the college and local communities for a festive summer celebration.

This year’s event will feature a variety of family activities including Saturday’s traditional “Big Six” 6-K run/walk and 1-mile fun run; the Christy Mathewson Day Parade, and activities at Christy Mathewson Park in Factoryville.

Highlights of this year’s activities include:

Friday, August 8

Noon Christy Mathewson Memorabilia Collection opens in Gambal Athletic Center Lobby and will remain on display until 5 p.m.

7 p.m. Participants will attend the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Rail Riders baseball game at PNC Park in Moosic. Please call (570) 945-8169 for tickets.

Saturday, August 9

7 a.m. Christy Mathewson Collection opens for the day in Gambal Athletic Center Lobby at Keystone College and will remain on display until 7 p.m.

7:30 a.m. Registration for “The Big 6” run/walk and one-mile fun run in the Hibbard Campus Center, Keystone College.

8 a.m. One-Mile fun-run begins on College Avenue.

8:30 a.m. “Big 6” Run/Walk begins on College Avenue.

9 a.m. Awards presentation to race winners in the Hibbard Campus Center.

9-10 a.m. Breakfast for race participants, courtesy of Keystone College in the Hibbard Campus Center.

9 a.m.-5 p.m. Bazaar featuring handcrafted items from local artisans in Evans Hall, Hibbard Campus Center.

5 p.m. Christy Mathewson Day Parade starts at Keystone College.

6 p.m. Parade ends at Lackawanna Trail Elementary Center followed by award presentations and evening events featuring food and games at Christy Mathewson Park.

9 p.m. Fireworks display at Clinton Township-Factoryville Borough Municipal Park.
