Paying for Study Abroad

The cost to study abroad will vary by program, so be sure to select a study abroad program within your budget. Many organizations offer financial aid or scholarships to Keystone College students needing assistance paying for study abroad. Even before applying, students should set up an appointment with the Student Central to discuss available financial aid funding and scholarships that can be used to pay for study abroad. Eligibility may be based on the program of choice, destination country, etc.

Study Abroad Financial Aid Policy

The opportunity to study abroad can be one of the most memorable and exciting times in one’s academic career, but it requires a certain level of personal responsibility to ensure that all necessary paperwork is completed well in advance.

There are specific forms that must be completed for financial aid prior to departure, and others which may need to be completed while you are away from the La Plume, PA campus. Some study abroad programs cost about the same as one semester at Keystone, with the exception of transportation costs, visas (when applicable), and personal expenses. Although your Keystone College grants and scholarships cannot be applied to the cost of studying abroad, you may be able to use state and federal grants and loans for which you are eligible to cover some of these expenses.

Student Central is not able offer additional grants or scholarships to help cover the supplemental costs of study abroad programs. Additional student or parent loans however, may be available after making adjustments for costs associated with study abroad.
