In celebration of National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Month, Keystone College will welcome motivational speaker Danielle Pitcher for “The Choices We Make” on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 12:30 p.m. in the Evans Hall.

Ms. Pitcher will share her personal and powerful story of her decision to drive drunk and the negative impacts of that choice. Participants will gain a better understanding of possible outcomes of any decision, and after acknowledging potential consequences, they can make responsible decisions.

On a snowy night in January 2011, Ms. Pitcher made a decision that would change her life forever. She chose to get behind the wheel of her car after having consumed alcohol with friends and got into a head on collision. Because of that one decision, a series of unavoidable events was set into motion. Ms. Pitcher was the cause of the car accident and one of her closest friends died as a result of injuries suffered in the accident.

Ms. Pitcher was brought up on criminal charges and later pled guilty to vehicular manslaughter in the second degree and was sentenced in criminal court to five years probation plus six months in county jail in upstate New York.

Sponsored by the Keystone College Concerts and Lectures Series, the presentation is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Kate Dempsey Jones at 570-945-8161 or at kate.jones@keystone.edu.
