Observatory Fall Sessions

November 6 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Venus And Jupiter Above TGCO Dome March 16 2012

The Thomas G. Cupillari ’60 Astronomical Observatory will begin its summer sessions on Wednesday, Sept. 16 from 8–10 p.m. and will continue each Wednesday and Friday evening through November 20.

The sessions are provided free of charge as a service to the community. Advanced registration or reservations are not required.

Following a brief talk which changes weekly, participants will be able to observe the Moon, planets, and stars through telescopes. Groups larger than 20 people, such as school classes, scouts, and community organizations, may reserve a Monday night for private visits.

All sessions will be held outdoors or in unheated Observatory buildings so visitors should dress accordingly. Insect repellent is also recommended. There will be a short presentation before each session and presentations will change weekly. Severe weather conditions will cancel events.

Directions

The Observatory is located at the intersection of Route 107 and Hack Road in Fleetville, a short distance from the College’s main campus. It is approximately two miles west on Route 107 from Interstate 81 exit 202 and approximately two miles east of Fleetville on Route 107. Once visitors turn onto Hack Road, the Observatory is almost immediately to the left.
