Keystone College Brings Wildlife Biology to Life for My Center for Independent Living Summer Program

On July 21, Keystone College hosted My Center for Independent Living (MyCIL) on campus for a wildlife biology presentation given by Assistant Professor of Wildlife Biology Dr. Joseph Iacovazzi. His presentation featured live animals such as spiders, insects, and reptiles and gave participants an up-close opportunity to learn about animal adaptations, behavior, and the important roles wildlife plays in healthy ecosystems.

Through guided encounters with the animals, participants were encouraged to ask questions, make observations, and develop a greater appreciation for wildlife and animals people are often afraid of. The program reflects Keystone College’s commitment to experiential education and meaningful community outreach by making science engaging, accessible, and inclusive for learners of all abilities.

MyCIL has served northeastern Pennsylvania since 1988, supporting people with disabilities through independent-living services, advocacy, skills training, peer mentoring, and community education. Keystone College is proud to work with community organizations such as MyCIL to share educational opportunities that inspire curiosity and connect people with the natural world.
