The Keystone College Concerts and Lectures Series will welcome Keystone alumnus Mikal E. Belicove ’86 for “Embracing Ghosts: The 10 rules you never learned but need to know about entrepreneurship” on Thursday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. in the Theatre in Brooks. The discussion is free and open to the public.
Entrepreneur Magazine columnist, Forbes.com contributing blogger, and the co-author of The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Facebook, Mr. Belicove will encourage participants to reconsider their approach to entrepreneurship. In his lively talk, Mr. Belicove — who started and sold a Colorado-based Internet start-up and advises start-ups and Fortune 500 firms alike on goals, strategies and tactics — offers 10 seldom thought of rules every future business owner, artist, and entrepreneur should follow.
A resident of Las Vegas, Nev., Mr. Belicove is an internationally known magazine columnist, author, and blogger who writes about entrepreneurship, marketing, business planning, corporate communications, emerging technologies and more. The third edition of his book, The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Facebook, was published in 2012.
Mr. Belicove writes the “Ask a Geek” column for Entrepreneur Magazine and “The Business End Blog” for Forbes Magazine. His thoughts and writing has been featured in numerous publications, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, U.S. News and World Report, PC World, Yahoo! Finance and many others.
In addition to his writing, Mr. Belicove develops and manages handcrafted strategic plans and marketing communications campaigns for boards, CEOs, high-profile personalities, and businesses. A 1986 graduate of Keystone College, he attended the University of Houston and received an honorary doctorate from Keystone when he served as commencement speaker in 2012. A member of the Keystone Board of Trustees, Mr. Belicove was named the Keystonian of the Year by the college’s Alumni Association in 2013.
