The Linder Gallery at Keystone College will present an exhibition of photography by East Stroudsburg-based artist Susie Forrester from September 14 through October 12 in the Linder Gallery on campus.
The exhibition, The Eternity of Moment, features her landscapes and subject-based photography. A reception for the artist will be held Thursday, September 18 from 5-7 p.m. in the Gallery and Ms. Forrester will speak about her work and creative process on Wednesday, September 17 at 9:45 a.m. in Brooks Theatre. The public is invited to both of these free events.
After finishing an apprenticeship with internationally renowned photographer Larry Link, Ms. Forrester exhibited her landscapes and subject-based photography throughout Pennsylvania. She used her day job as an in-demand photographer to strengthen her artistic vision. As in wedding photography, where photographs revolve around the bride and groom along with family and friends, Ms. Forrester infuses the idea of the basic subject-centered photograph to focus the viewer’s gaze on the importance of the subject. She is adept at capturing the precise moment, summing up the scene at hand, managing not only to focus the viewer’s gaze, but also capture the ethereal qualities of the moment.
“Susie’s best photos capture not only the image, but the boundaries surrounding the images’ emotional appeal. She never just takes a picture, she takes stock of the framework holding the entire image together,” said James Lansing, director of the Linder Gallery. “Her best works have started to take on an abstract quality, and while this may seem counterproductive in lieu of her reliance on her subjects being centered in the frame, it supports her overall vision, and helps make her vision more of a complete statement.”
