Position: Graduate Assistant
Reports to: Brenda Lidy
Position Summary: Graduate Teaching Assistant in academics support faculty across multiple programs—including Accounting, Business, Economics, E-sports, Finance, Hospitality, Information Technology, Management, Marketing, Sport & Recreation, and other business-related programs—by providing instructional assistance and research support. These positions offer hands-on experience in academic support functions and research methodologies.
Primary Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
- Academic Support:
- Aid in the preparation, administration, and proctoring of exams and assignments.
- Help students navigate online resources, exams, and assignments through Moodle/canvas.
- Calculate internship hours and maintain paperwork
- Organize GEE attendees and other applicable forms.
- Provide administrative support to help manage academic initiatives.
- Attend division meetings and other special academic meetings
- Department Initiatives & Project Leadership:
- Assist in leading initiatives and events, including entrepreneurship projects.
- Organize 1-2 summer camps/programs
- Attend open house, accepted students’ day, and career fairs. (on and off campus)
- Media & Communications:
- Create and update digital and print media, including social media content for the department.
- Proofread the website, catalog, and other marketing materials for accuracy.
- Maintain and organize the BMT student and faculty moodle/canvas shell
- Research & Administrative Support:
- Conduct faculty research and assist with academic projects.
- Provide support for departmental functions involving alumni, faculty, staff, and students.
- Assist faculty with guest speakers, conferences, and other duties as assigned.
- Assist the division with annual events/meetings such as the advisory board, undergraduate research fair, commencement, etc.
- Assist with academic assessment and program reviews.
- Conduct library and academic research to assist student and faculty projects.
Skills and Experience:
- Experience with leadership programs and event coordination.
- Excellent communication skills (writing, verbal, and listening).
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access) and Adobe Photoshop, Canva, etc.
- Social media design skills being desirable.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and uphold confidentiality.
