Position: Success Coach (Student-Athlete Success)
This is a federal grant position that will remain in place for the duration of the grant.
Reports to: Coordinator of Student Success
Position Summary: The Success Coach for Student-Athlete Success supports the academic achievement, persistence, and holistic development of student-athletes at Keystone College. This position provides individualized coaching and support to help student-athletes successfully balance academic responsibilities, athletic commitments, and personal development while maintaining eligibility and progressing toward degree completion.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform targeted outreach and interact directly with student-athletes, connecting them with resources to navigate barriers.
- Convene and participate in meetings to review student-athlete achievement and progress toward meeting academic and professional goals.
- Provide individual coaching for students on topics of time management, organization, study strategies, academic planning, and goal setting, with consideration of sport schedules.
- Provide students with regular constructive feedback to promote success.
- Compile and maintain records, including attendance and academic data, to track student progress, assessment results, and coaching goals.
- Collaborate closely with coaches, faculty, and athletic staff to identify concerns early and implement academic support plans.
- Provide information, guidance, and supervision to student mentors who will peer lead a group of students.
- Develop positive relationships with the College community.
- Perform industry research and make recommendations for strategic interventions and process improvements in line with retention/student success best practices.
- Attend campus events at the request of the Office of Retention/Student Success.
- Assist in other retention and student success initiatives as assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to institutional policies and ethical standards.
Experience, Competencies and Education:
- Willingness to learn about student success initiatives to implement the student retention initiative with fidelity.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in Higher Education, Counseling, Sports Management, Education, Social Work, or related field.
- 2–3 years of experience in higher education, student success, academic advising, athletics, mentoring, or related student support services.
- Experience as a student-athlete, working with student-athletes, or within an athletic department preferred.
