During this internship I learned how to please customers. I opened a garage and have a range of customers. My job was to order parts and fix cars. I used after market parts for excellent quality and lower prices. I Changed prices based upon customer reviews.
One thing I did not know before this internship is that it is hard to run a business. It’s barely run off customer reviews and its extremely expensive to be successful. There are a lot of factors like marketing, price, customers’ needs. I did not know that it’s hard to keep employees even when the pay is above average.
In the beginning I was faced with bankruptcy and having to start over. I was making mistakes with prices and being able to keep inventory. This led to customer complaints and fewer customers. I was buying cheap parts and cheap labor which led customers giving me a bad reputation. I was getting behind on bills because I could not save money because I had too many employees.
A fun fact from my experience is that I learned how to get loans for my company. I was surprised by how much I was allowed to get, I was loaned $70,000 with low interest rates. This allowed me to generate more revenue and pay monthly on the loans.
My advice for future interns is to go online for your internship. It’s easy and fun. I’d compare it to Sims. If you mess up you can start over and redo different scenarios. Do as much hours as you can – you don’t know when something comes up and need a break.
