Role/Title: Game Day Intern
Semester of Internship: Summer/Fall 2025

Brynn ProbertDuring my internship with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, I learned how important teamwork and communication are to running a successful game day. I learned how to be flexible and maintain organization under pressure from my experience working at many stations. Additionally, I learned how to engage with fans and make their experience enjoyable and fulfilling. Overall, the internship helped me build confidence and improve my customer service and problem-solving skills.

One thing I didn’t know before this internship was how much planning and coordination goes into each game day. I didn’t realize how many different roles and departments work together to make everything run smoothly. Seeing it all behind the scenes gave me a new appreciation for the hard work that goes into every event.

Managing unexpected changes was one of the challenges I encountered throughout my internship, particularly when inclement weather impacted the game schedule or fan activities. Rain delays or sudden storms often meant quickly adjusting plans, moving equipment, or helping fans find shelter. We managed the changes with comfort and kept fans informed and safe by keeping in touch with my coworkers and managers. I learned how to rapidly adjust and maintain a positive outlook even when things don’t go as planned from this experience.

Getting to assist with on-field promotions in between innings was a unique component of my experience. I had the opportunity to toss T-shirts into the crowd and observe the supporters’ excitement when they caught them. Being a part of the entertainment and witnessing how those little moments improved everyone’s enjoyment of the game was a lot of fun. It definitely demonstrated to me the amount of work and energy required to produce an amazing fan experience.

Picture1My advice for future interns is always to stay adaptable and ready to help with any task, big or small. Every game day is different, and things can change fast, especially if the weather or the schedule is changed. Staying organized and keeping a good attitude will help you handle those challenges smoothly. Additionally, it’s important to spend some time talking with staff members and fans; you’ll learn a lot and build connections in the process, which is key.
