Keystone College will kick off the holiday season by hosting The Pennsylvania Jazz Alliance’s performance of The Jazz Nutcracker Suite on Sunday, November 29 at 5:30 p.m. in the Theatre in Brooks on campus.

The performance, by members of the Scranton Jazz Festival Big Band, is free and open to the public as a gift to the community. Advanced reservations are required by contacting Kate Dempsey Jones at (570) 945-8161 or by visiting www.keystone.edu/jazznutcracker. Guests are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy for a toy drive sponsored by students in Keystone’s business ethics class to benefit the Catherine McCauley Center in Scranton.The Jazz Nutcracker Suite features the timeless music of Peter Ilych Tchaikovsy re-arranged for jazz-big band performance by American jazz masters Duke Ellington and Shorty Rogers. The event will mark the second consecutive year the Jazz Nutcracker Suite will be performed at Keystone.Founded by Marko Marcinko, The PA Jazz Alliance brings top professional jazz, blues, and Latin music and world-class musicians to Northeastern Pennsylvania and the entire state. Through performances and educational workshops, the Alliance strives to bring the highest level of music and instruction to the public. A University of Miami graduate, Marko has performed and toured with jazz greats Maynard Ferguson, Joe Henderson, Michael Brecker, Red Rodney, Paquito D’Rivera and Dave Liebman, among others.
