KCEEI Intro to Beekeeping

An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Saturday, repeating until May 4, 2019

Join beekeeper Ellen McGlynn to learn the art and science of backyard beekeeping. This hands-on course provides education on honeybees and teaches the basic techniques and practical features of starting and managing a small apiary. Topics include understanding honeybees, threats to honeybees, beekeeping equipment and supplies, safety practices while working with bees, pollinator garden design, setting up and managing an apiary, establishing new hives, caring for bees, identifying bee diseases, pests and control practices, honey and beeswax products and more.

Fee: $115, includes use of protective gear,  $15 textbook fee.
