Faculty Colloquia: Study Habits and Skill Analysis of Generation Z Students
Presented by Associate Professor Vicki Stanavitch, Ph.D. and Adjunct Instructor Erin Johnson

Understanding the difference in learning styles within the Generation Z population compared to previous generations is important to assist current students achieve their higher educational goals. In order to determine what, if any, differences are present, a study was conducted during the fall 2018 semester within the Department of the Biological & Physical Sciences and Mathematics at Keystone College. The purpose of the study was to identify the study habits and skills, learning styles, and perceived educational needs of science students using an online, first-generation survey.

By identifying the study habits and skills of our students, faculty will be able to tailor course content delivery to address these needs, with the ultimate goals of increasing the number of students who successfully pass a class, persist to graduation, and achieve their educational and career goals.  The colloquium will discuss the results and trends discovered.
