Physical Therapy

The physical therapy major is intended for students planning for continued doctoral studies in physical therapy at one of many universities offering that concentration of study. The curriculum is modified to meet the needs for transfer into most doctoral programs in physical therapy, including Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. This program offers flexibility so that one may accommodate the requirements of transfer institutions.

Students complete their undergraduate study in biology at Keystone and then continue at other highly respected institutions to pursue their graduate or doctoral degrees in physical therapy. Generally, the remainder of their doctoral degree can be completed in three additional years.

This physical therapy program is designed for students to pursue a DPT (Doctorate in Physical Therapy). Physical therapy is and will continue to be a growing field. Job outlooks are excellent.

Internships and Experiential Learning

Not all education happens in the classroom. Certain lessons can only be learned through direct hands-on experiences outside of the classroom with real world experiences in the field. Internships and other field experiences give students the opportunity to connect one-on-one with faculty, fellow students and other professionals. Students will acquire leadership and management skills, professional growth and personal fulfillment that can’t be gained in the classroom.

The pre-medical professional advisor offers advice and suggestions for your summer cooperative work and internship.

Projects & Research

Students have the opportunity to participate in a mentored research experience in conjunction with faculty mentors and community partners at any time. All students participate in the senior seminar and research course and capstone research projects, and present their work at the annual research symposium. Students and mentors also have the opportunity to present work at regional and national conferences.
