POSITION: Career Development Coach
DEPARTMENT: Academic Affairs – Retention/Student Success
REPORTS TO: Student Success Coordinator/Assistant Vice President of Academic Operations
JOB PURPOSE: The primary role of the Career Development Coach is to support the growth and persistence of Keystone College students by delivering comprehensive services that facilitate student success both in and out of the classroom, specifically preparing students for entry into the workforce.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide individual coaching for students on topics of time management, organizational skills, professional development, and career readiness topics, including resume and cover letter writing, interviewing skills, job and internship search strategies, professional communication, and career exploration
- Perform targeted outreach and interact directly with students
- Plan and lead all career-centered student success events, such as Expos and Career Week events
- Provide students with regular constructive feedback to promote success and career readiness
- Compile and maintain records, such as potential internship and career opportunities, professional contacts, shadowing opportunities, and assessment results
- Develop and deliver workshops, presentations, and events for students on a range of career and professional success topics, such as career exploration, professional branding, Linked In, networking, and graduate school preparation
- Support and enhance Handshake platform utilization to maximize student engagement and employer connections
- Develop positive relationships with the College community
- Perform industry research and make recommendations for process improvements in line with college career readiness best practices
- Represent the Office of Retention/Student Success at various campus events
- Assist in other retention, student success, and career development initiatives as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience, Competencies, and Education
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred
- 2-3 years of experience in career services, preferably in higher education
- Demonstrated expertise in career coaching, counseling, and student development
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Motivate, inspire, and engage students
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Be detail oriented and able to manage multiple tasks
- Work effectively (individually and collaboratively) across diverse communities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Desire to work in a fast-paced, customer service, student-centered environment
