POSITION: Children’s Center Director
REPORTS TO: Provost
JOB PURPOSE: Provides a two-fold educational program for all children and to college students in the Early Childhood Education major by directing all activities of the Children’s Center
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Interviews applicants and makes recommendation for hiring new staff members
- Conducts new employee orientation
- Maintains staff personnel files
- Provides direction to the staff by supervising classroom activities and curriculum, and conducting staff conferences
- Supervises the day-to-day functioning of the program
- Hires and supervises work study students
- Maintains financial records; PKC, HS, and Children’s Center budgets, submits weekly deposits to the Business Office
- Maintains compliance with state licensing regulations, Keystone Stars Standards and National Accreditation Standards, Head Start Regulations.
- Advertises Children’s Center programs and registers children for programs
- Supervises the maintenance of the children’s enrollment and progress records
- Maintains open communication by arranging and/or conducting parent meetings, parent orientations, coordinating publicity, preparing monthly newsletters, coordinating fund raisers and other special events
- Provides an educational experience for Early Childhood Education students by coordinating laboratory experiences with the course content and with the Early Childhood Education Program Coordinator; supervising students in the classroom; approving, supervising, and evaluating lesson plans and conducting daily meetings with the students
- Provides input to the Early Childhood Education students’ records by evaluating their performance for grading purposes
- Must complete 27 hours professional development per year
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience, Competencies, and Education
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education
- PA Directors Credential a must
- Minimum of three years’ experience working with young children in an educational setting and minimum of 2 years in a supervising role.
- Background check clearances including Act 34, Act 114, Act 151 and National Sex Offender (NSOR) , names and address of three professional references, two written references, and physical examination with a TB test is required.
