POSITION: Director of Admissions

REPORTS TO: Vice President of Enrollment

WORK SCHEDULE: Days, some evenings and weekends.

JOB PURPOSE: Supports the VP of Enrollment to create and implement an effective recruitment and marketing plan to ensure institutional enrollment goals are met.


  • Works with Dean of Enrollment to develop a recruitment / marketing plan to include:
    • Goal setting and planning for territory management for admissions counselors
    • Review and assessment of College and academic requirements for admission
    • Marketing and communications targeted at prospective students (traditional and non-traditional)
  • Supervisory Role:
    • 3 professional admissions counselors
    • 1 full-time support staff
    • 1 part-time support staff
    • Conducts bi-weekly professional staff meetings; monthly full-staff meetings, and one-on-one meetings with all staff bi-monthly and as necessary
    • Bi-annual performance evaluations of staff
  • In conjunction with the Vice President for Enrollment and the Director of Financial Assistance and Planning, develops the annual Financial Aid model and leveraging plan for the recruitment and enrollment of both new and returning student populations
  • Provides oversight to the College’s annual search campaigns utilizing various forms of predictive modeling
  • Coordinates the strategic communication plan to prospective students from prospect to enrollee
  • Responsible for final sign off for admissions decisions and scholarships
  • Coordinates the development of all promotional literature for traditional and non-traditional admissions. (Search pieces, viewbooks, inquiry cards, open house mailers, curriculum brochures, orientation information, etc.)
  • Develops, updates, and monitors a targeted marketing communication plan to prospective students and parents through a combination of electronic, social media venues, direct mail, personalized written and web-based communications, and telephone
  • Makes recommendations to the Vice President for Enrollment regarding advertising opportunities for traditional student populations
  • Works with specific academic departments to enhance recruitment efforts for specific curriculums
  • Manages graduate and online applications


  • Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor


Experience, Competencies and Education

  • Six years of progressively responsible experience in college/university admissions with proven supervisory experience
  • Master’s Degree preferred, concentration in Higher Ed Administration, Communications, or Marketing preferred
  • Experience with marketing and social media as a recruitment tool is highly desirable
  • Experience with predictive modeling preferred
  • Experience working with Jenzabar EX software is preferred and fluency with Microsoft Office products is required


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required to effectively communicate with all constituencies—students, faculty, administrators, staff members, high school counselors, and parents
  • Evidence of strong work ethic and writing/speaking skills need to be demonstrated
  • Overnight travel, evening, and weekend work are required
  • Must be familiar with current best practices in student recruitment and marketing trends
  • A valid drivers’ license is required
