POSITION: Systems Technician
REPORTS TO: Director of Network Administration
WORK SCHEDULE:
M-F 8:30 to 4:30

JOB PURPOSE:

Support the campus community in using information technology for teaching, learning, administration, and research.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform routine configuration, maintenance, setup, and moves for hardware and software systems.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot issues within the network, offices, classrooms, and computer lab environments.
  • Provide and support technology setups for campus events.
  • Resolve IT service requests from the campus community.
  • Escalate problems that fall outside of skill level of this position.
  • Discover and address trends within the IT support area.
  • Write technical documentation for students and colleagues.
  • Research and implement hardware and software upgrades.
  • Supervise the work of student employees in the department.
  • Assist in the development and execution of the technology capital plan with IT colleagues and College Administration.
  • Support fellow Information Technology team members by performing other related duties as required.

Experience, Competencies and Education

Baccalaureate degree in IT-related field. Knowledge of Windows, networking, MS Office, desktop/mobile devices/accessories, and cabling. Strong service ethic/ability to proactively identify opportunities to improve IT services. Proven interpersonal skills and leadership to function as a member of a team. Strong technical research and troubleshooting skills.

  • Bend/stoop/move around/under furniture
  • Move furniture (to route cables)
  • Push equipment carts
  • See sufficiently to focus projectors/work with small components/terminate network cables correctly
  • Hear/speak on phone and in person
  • Driver’s license required for the use of golf cart
