POSITION: College Counselor
REPORTS TO: Assistant Director of Counseling and Well-Being
WORK SCHEDULE: M-F 8:30 to 4;30


Responsible for the provision of counseling, consultation, crisis intervention and referral services to address the personal, academic, career and social needs of undergraduate students


  • Provides individual and group counseling services that are responsive to the diversity of students experiencing situational psychological or behavioral difficulties
  • Meets regularly with the Counseling and Well-being team to determine the best way to support individual students who may be experiencing psychological, behavioral or learning difficulties
  • Completes crisis and emergency assessments during office hours, and coordinates appropriate referrals for student incidents on campus
  • Oversees and participates in the development of innovative educational programs designed to promote the healthy development of students and enhance their academic potential.
  • Develops, assists and plans for the delivery of psycho-educational programs on campus addressing mental health and developmental needs of a diverse student body
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with local hospitals and other local mental health agencies
  • Serves as a point-of-contact for student veterans and helps to manage/facilitate partnerships with the Veterans Center and the Department of Veterans Affairs
  • Develops applications for and manages grants that are related to work being completed in the Keystone Counseling Center.
  • Maintains and conducts outcome assessment and evaluative activities that measure the effectiveness of prevention programming, counseling, departmental activities, and student development indicators as deemed necessary by the College. Develop and maintain related reports
  • Club advisor for Key Choices Club
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of services
  • Provides clinical supervision to graduate interns and counselors, as needed

Experience, Competencies and Education

  • Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or psychology.
  • PA LPC preferred.
  • At least 3 years counseling experience required
  • Drug and alcohol counseling experience preferred

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with other staff to provide a wide range of programs and services to enhance student engagement and retention expected
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Relates well to a traditional age undergraduate population
  • Knowledgeable of issues and trends in higher education counseling
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
