Keystone Ranks 7th for Social Mobility

For the 13th consecutive year, Keystone College has been ranked as one of the nation’s best colleges in U.S. News & World Report.

Keystone finished 32nd overall, in the “Regional Colleges/North” category. In a new listing for the magazine this year, Keystone finished seventh in the Regional Colleges/North category for the “social mobility” of graduates who have received Pell grants. The category measures graduation rates of students who received federal Pell grants, which are typically awarded to households with lower family incomes. Essentially, the ranking means that Keystone provides the opportunity, support, and personal attention to all students, regardless of economic circumstances and background.

In other key listings, the magazine reported that 65 percent of Keystone’s classes have less than 20 students, tied for 15th of all schools in the Regional Colleges/North category. Keystone was tied for 11th in the Regional Colleges/North category with a 12:1 student-to-faculty ratio.

“We are once again proud to be ranked in U.S. News & World Report as one of the nation’s best colleges. Furthermore, our national rankings for social mobility, small class sizes and student/faculty ratio demonstrate our continued commitment to all of our students by providing the resources, individual attention and guidance they need to be successful during their college years and in their chosen careers following graduation.”
– President Tracy L. Brundage, Ph.D.

Keystone offers more than 40 undergraduate and graduate degree options in liberal arts and science-based programs in business, communications, education, fine arts, natural science, environmental resource management, geology, and social sciences. Located 15 minutes from Scranton, Pa. and two hours from New York City and Philadelphia, Keystone is known for small class sizes and individual attention focused on student success through internships, research, and community involvement.
