The fun begins when the lights go out as The Keystone Players present Peter Shaffer’s zany farce, “Black Comedy,” Nov. 6 through 8 at Keystone College’s Brooks Theatre, La Plume.

Brin Miller, a struggling artist (Kevin Burke) and his fiancée, Carol Melkett (Courtney McCreary) have every reason to be afraid of the dark when a power failure threatens to ruin their hopes of impressing Carol’s demanding father, Colonel Melkett (David Swanson) and encouraging a rich art collector, Mrs. Bamberger (Danielle Karwaski) to purchase Brin’s sculptures,

Complications arise with the arrival of unexpected guests, the prim Miss Furnival (Nicci Petri), emotional antique dealer Harold Gorringe (Harry Krenistsky), and Clea, a former girlfriend (Olivia Strunk). Adding to the fun is electrician Berta Schuppanzigh (Kimberly Boland), Mistaken identities and embarrassing secrets only serve to further escalate Brin’s difficulties.

“The cast has perfected the split-second timing that makes this play so funny, and it’s really amusing to watch eight characters stumbling about in the dark,” said Jane Honchell, director.

“In addition to the tricks of this cleverly conceived play, a treat awaits a lucky member of the audience. We will conduct a drawing for a gift card for ticket holders at the conclusion of each performance,” Ms. Honchell announced.

Tickets ($10 general admission and $5 senior citizens) are available at the door, or by calling 570- 945-8454 or emailing jane.honchell@keystone.edu. Curtain times are 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 6 and 7, and 2 p.m. on Nov. 8.
