Two Keystone College students recently compiled impressive performances in a respected national business competition in Chicago.
Keystone senior Tyler Gilroy and junior Michael Karwaski, both of Scott Twp., finished sixth in a forensic accounting competition sponsored by Phi Beta Lamda, the college division of the Future Business Leaders of America.
Tyler and Michael, who competed as a team, finished first in Pennsylvania, squaring off against hundreds of other entrants. The two top finishers in each business category advanced to the national finals in Chicago. Both Tyler and Michael are accounting majors at Keystone and chose forensic accounting as their specialty in the contest. Forensic accounting uses accounting, auditing, and investigative skills to conduct a detailed examination into an organization’s financial records.
Future Business Leaders of America is a national organization which promotes business education and leadership skills for young people. After joining the organization in high school, many students continue with Phi Beta Lambda in college.
