What prompted you/your organization to establish and/or support a Keystone College scholarship?
“My father had an opportunity to pursue his artistic talent only after he retired following a successful career in an unrelated field. As for many people, economic reasons dictated his choice of career. I always wondered what would have happened if he had had the opportunity to develop his talent in his youth. As a result, I wanted to provide that opportunity to a talented young person whose limited financial means may stand in the way of his/her artistic training. I decided to support a scholarship at Keystone because I hold in very high regard the quality of the work of the faculty of Keystone’s Art department.”
What would you tell others to inspire them to establish a scholarship?
“In today’s job market, education is an indispensable asset. Providing a young person with an opportunity to pursue his/her education in their area of interest is the same as giving that person an invaluable, life changing gift that will enrich their life forever. Establishing a scholarship is one way to make such a gift, a way to help young people to fulfill their potential and pursue their dreams.”
What advice would you give to current and future scholarship recipients in regard to their educational pursuits?
“Education is the single most important factor that will affect the choices you will make and the opportunities that will be available to you throughout your life. Be sure to make the most of it. It is well worth the investment.”
Keystone College holds an annual Scholarship Luncheon each November, offering scholarship donors an opportunity to meet the students who benefit from their kindness.
