"Taking Art to the Digital World"

Keystone College junior Hannah Lamhauge always knew she wanted to be an artist. Hannah is known as “the artistic one” among her friends and family, and now studying for a Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Arts with a concentration in graphic design at Keystone College, Hannah is taking her love of art to the digital world.

Hannah says, “I always loved the freedom of creativity that comes with being an artist.” Graphic design is exactly the outlet for her to utilize her creativity and build a flexible career where she can work independently from home. Hannah has even begun some freelance work saying, “I already have two prospective clients to design logos for their blogs, which is really exciting.”

Keystone College has also provided Hannah the opportunity to learn about the professional business world since she just completed an internship with the Scranton Chamber of Commerce. “I really enjoyed the professional working environment too, and I learned a lot about how to handle clients and be able to give them what they want.” Hannah created a lot of print work for the Scranton Chamber of Commerce including advertising, quick reference guide booklets and gift certificates for Chamber members.

Originally from Nicholson Pa., Hannah chose Keystone College in order to remain near friends and family. In addition to being close to home, Keystone’s small class sizes and attentive faculty have assisted Hannah in preparation for her career as a graphic artist. “The teachers here are fantastic, they are so positive.”

Fundamental art classes that Hannah has enjoyed at Keystone include Drawing I and II with Drake Gomez, and she credits Dave Porter for helping her get the internship at the Scranton Chamber of Commerce. Hannah’s artwork has also been on display in The Linder Gallery, in the Miller Library, multiple semesters during her time at Keystone, and she is learning website design with plans to use her graphic and web design skills as part of her senior art show.

Hannah is also the recipient of the Academic Excellence Scholarship at Keystone, awarded to students who are in the top 5 percent of their high school graduating class and received a minimum score of 1100 on their SATs. She is a participant in the Keystone College Honors Program, and with plans to graduate a semester early, Keystone College has set Hannah on the road to success.
