Residence Hall Fire Safety
Resident students are limited to 4 guests to a room at a time in addition to the students living there. This includes resident and non-resident guests. There should be no more than 6 people occupying any room at any time for any reason to ensure proper fire safety codes.
When a fire alarm is going off all residents within a residence hall are required to leave the building. Even though there are some false alarms each student should treat every fire alarm like as if a real fire is occurring and evacuate the building promptly. The Residence Life staff and Campus Safety Officers will check all rooms to ensure the building is clear and everyone is out safely. Anyone remaining in the residence halls during or after an alarm has gone off will be subject to disciplinary actions through the Office of Student Conduct and fined a minimum fine of $100.00.
