Dating Doctor tells students: Find someone who compliments you
Keystone College hosted nationally recognized entertainer David Coleman, “The Dating Doctor,” for “Making Relationships Matter” on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, night in the Theatre in Brooks. Coleman’s presentation mixed humor (and food) with heartfelt advice for students on how to make the most of their relationships.
Coleman, a self-proclaimed real-life Hitch, referencing the Will Smith character in the movie of the same title, discussed topics ranging from getting over a break-up and who really has control in a relationship, to gaining and deserving respect from a partner. Coleman encouraged students not to look for “someone who completes you.” Instead he says the key to a healthy relationship is to, “Find someone who compliments you.”
During more sincere moments Coleman answered students’ questions about relationships and encouraged students to seek help when necessary. His combination of humor and heart resonated with Keystone students and with Coleman himself, who told the lively crowd their energy “rejuvenated” him. Coleman’s ultimate message was insightful and clear, “You cannot find the right person until you become the right person.”
