La Plume – On Wednesday, May 16, Keystone College will host the Lackawanna and Wyoming counties’ annual Envirothon, an academic competition designed to test knowledge of high school students regarding Pennsylvania’s natural resources.  The program emphasizes the importance of environmental sensitivity while stressing a need to achieve social, ecological, and economic balance.

In an outdoors setting, students in grades nine through 12 from local school districts will answer written and field questions prepared by environmental professionals. The participating high schools are: Tunkhannock, Lackawanna Trail, Lakeland, Old Forge, Riverside, Mid Valley, and Abington Heights.

The competition is sponsored by the Lackawanna and Wyoming County Conservation Districts; Keystone College; Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Lackawanna State Park; and Pennsylvania American Water.
