La Plume - Chris Palau's first semester at Keystone College has been rewarding in more ways than one.

Chris recently was one of four college students in the nation to win the Sodexo promotional event, Share That U Care. As a grand prize winner, Chris received a $250 Visa Gift Card and $2500 was donated to Autism Speaks, the charity of his choice, on his behalf.

Keystone College President David Coppola, Sodexo General Manager Michael Lusk, Catering Manager Allyson Edwards, and Sodexo Marketing Intern Shawon Gibbons presented Chris with his award Dec. 4 at Keystone College. Sodexo is the international company that manages Keystone’s dining and facilities services.

In order to enter the drawing for the Sodexo national promotion event, students filled out surveys and shared ideas on social media about their most important social causes. Chris entered the contest by completing a survey on the Sodexo Dining Services page on the Keystone College website.

Sodexo Area Marketing Coordinator Janine Liebel said the national Share That U Care promotion was created to, "encourage students to send positive messages that promote awareness, social responsibility, and compassion for issues important to students."

Chris, a junior wildlife biology major from East Stroudsburg, Pa., said he chose to donate the money to Autism Speaks because his mother worked with special education children for over 30 years. "There is a special connection there for me," Chris said of Autism Speaks.
