La Plume –- Keystone College, in conjunction with several business organizations and companies, will host a regional additive manufacturing summit on  Friday, April 4 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Theatre in Brooks.  

The summit will feature a variety of nationally recognized speakers, industry experts, manufacturing executives and entrepreneurs who will discuss how additive manufacturing technology, also known as 3-D printing, is being used in a variety of business settings. Featured speakers include John Dobsetter, business consultant for Stratasys, Inc. and Jon Lash, CEO of Digital Atelier, LLC.

The summit is being sponsored by Stratasys Inc., Allegheny Educational Systems, Inc. and Topp Business Solutions in collaboration with Keystone College, the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce, Northeastern Pennsylvania Industrial Resource Center, Ben Franklin Technology Partners, Manufacturing Extension Partnership and PA Partnership for Regional Economic Performance.

Additive manufacturing or 3-D printing uses materials such as plastics, carbon, fiber, or metal to produce three-dimensional objects. Rather than printing out a document, 3-D printers produce objects such as tools, parts for automobiles and machines, medical devices, art, and other objects.
