La PlumeKeystone College and the Dietrich Theater in Tunkhannock are seeking participants from the community for the joint production of the play, “The Laramie Project.”

Keystone and the Dietrich will present the play April 4-6 and April 11-13 at the Dietrich Theater and at Keystone College.   

Needed are 20 women and men ages 18-70 for a variety of roles. Open auditions at Keystone’s Brooks Theatre will be held Jan. 28-30 from 7-9:30 p.m. Anyone interested in participating may call Jane Honchell, 570-945-8454 for more information. Auditions at the Dietrich Theater will be held Feb. 1-2 from noon-5 p.m. by appointment. Anyone interested may call Jennifer Jenkins, 570-996-1511.   

The play will involve Keystone students and community members. Anyone is welcome to come to either audition. Those auditioning will be asked to read from the script and scenes are available online.

The Laramie Project is the true story of Matthew Shepard, a University of Wyoming student who was beaten and left to die because he was gay. The show details the effects of his death told by the residents of a small town forever changed by a hate crime.
