Job Summary:
The Division of Natural Science and Mathematics at Keystone College invites applications for full-time Assistant Professor of molecular biology or biochemistry to begin Fall 2013. Keystone College is a private, co-educational college where emphasis is on undergraduate education, and growing importance is placed on faculty mentored student research projects. The Division of Natural Science and Mathematics strives to maintain a personalized, student-centered approach to teaching and a collaborative approach to productive undergraduate research.
Responsibilities:
A demonstrable ability to teach undergraduate biology to majors and non-majors is required. Applicants must also show interest in productive scholarship and creative achievement. The successful applicant will exhibit a willingness mentor undergraduate research projects, and will have the opportunity to develop new courses in their areas of interest. All full-time faculty at Keystone College serve as academic advisers and on Division and College committees. The normal teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. Scholarship; service to the College; a strong commitment to advising; and, mentorship of students, including research involving undergraduates is expected.
Requirements:
Qualified applicants must hold a Ph.D in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry or closely related discipline at the time of appointment. Candidates with Ph.D. from a regionally or nationally accredited program preferred. ABD within one year of degree considered.

The successful candidate will have a well-developed or emerging research agenda. In addition, the successful candidate must have evidence of an ability to work effectively with students and colleagues and have a strong commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education. The candidate must possess excellent communication skills and be self-motivated. Strong preference will be given to those candidates with past success pursuing extramural funding and/or experience developing biology courses and curricula. Additional preference will be given to candidates with experience in forensic science or those with a research focus that may include forensic applications.
Letters of application should include a curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation, and a statement of undergraduate teaching philosophy and research interests. Official transcripts with college/university seal will be required prior to employment.
