The Division of Natural Science and Mathematics at Keystone College invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Mathematics. This is a continuing academic year (9-month) position to begin Fall 2014.
Keystone College is a private, co-educational college where primary emphasis is on undergraduate education, and growing importance is placed on faculty mentored student research projects. In the Fall 2007 semester, the college seated its first class of secondary mathematics education majors. Among the facilities available in the sciences is the
Responsibilities include teaching mathematics at the undergraduate level, course and program development, and maintaining an active research program.
A demonstrable ability to teach undergraduate mathematics to science and mathematics majors, and to non-majors in general education and service courses is required. Additional duties include mentoring and advising undergraduate students. The successful applicant will exhibit a willingness to develop and mentor undergraduate research projects and will have the opportunity for program and course development in their areas of interest. The successful applicant will be a leader in the development and implementation of an approved interdisciplinary applied math program at the College. The successful candidate will build a program that generates interaction with disciplines such as the natural sciences, psychology, business and financial modeling.
Qualified applicants must hold a Ph.D in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Computational Mathematics, Statistics or a closely related field such as informatics at the time of appointment. Responsibilities include teaching mathematics at the undergraduate level, course and program development, and maintaining an active research program.
The successful candidate will have a well-developed or emerging research agenda. In addition, the successful candidate must have evidence of an ability to work effectively with students and colleagues and have a strong commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education. The candidate must possess excellent communication skills and be self-motivated.
