Fulfilling a Lifelong Promise
Major: Criminal Justice
Several years ago, Carl Graziano made a promise to himself and to his family. When he walked on stage to accept his Keystone College diploma in May, 2012, he fulfilled that obligation.
“I made a promise to my parents, to my kids and to myself that I would graduate from college. Thanks to the Keystone Weekender Program, I can proudly say I accomplished that goal.”
A 20-year veteran of the Scranton Police Department where he achieved the rank of captain, and now Acting Police Chief, Carl recently received his bachelor’s of science degree in criminal justice. A short time later, he was promoted to Acting Chief of the department.
“The Weekender was perfect for me. The small class sizes created a great learning environment. As a law enforcement officer, I always want to interact and learn from the people around me. I had the opportunity to do that while attending the Weekender. Also, I thought the professors were absolutely excellent.”
Now that he has his college degree, Carl plans to remain in law enforcement and continue his education. “My next step is to go to graduate school for my master’s degree. I know now that I can make it happen.”
Whatever else he accomplishes, Carl realizes the Weekender Program, helped make it possible. “I’m really glad I attended Keystone and earned my degree. It was a really great experience.”
