Posted: 10/29/2013

La Plume – Keystone College has been awarded grants from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts for two of its most popular programs.

The grants were received on behalf of Keystone through organizations affiliated with the Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts, a partnership between local art organizations and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.

The college has received a grant through the Pocono Arts Council for $2,175 for The Gathering, a nationally respected literature and creativity conference held on campus each summer. Keystone also received another grant for $1,347 grant through the Bradford County Regional Arts Council for its Concerts and Lecture series.

“We are extremely grateful to the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts for its support of these important programs” said Keystone College Director of Grants Liz Ratchford. “The Gathering and the Concerts and Lectures Series are not only worthwhile events for Keystone, they benefit our entire community by attracting nationally known speakers, authors, poets and other respected figures to Northeastern  Pennsylvania.”

The Gathering, which has received national recognition from presenters and attendees alike, is an annual conference for people of diverse backgrounds who share the idea that imagination can help solve problems that threaten our communities, large and small. Through lectures, workshops, performances, and discussions, participants explore creativity through the sciences and arts of diverse cultures around the world. The Gathering will celebrate its eighth consecutive year in the summer of 2014.

The Keystone Concerts and Lectures Series brings nationally know speakers, authors, and other experts to campus each year. These events are always free and open to the public.
