- Career Resources for ALANA Students
There are many career resources available specifically for ALANA (African, Latino(a), Asian and Native American) individuals. If you are looking for a job with a company committed to diversity the following resources are a great place to start.
Find Employers Committed to Diversity
Many employers who have a commitment to diversity will recruit at job fairs targeted to specific populations. There are many of these throughout the country. The following are just a sample of the fairs available:
- PSI Diversity Job Fairs
- DISCO International Career Forums for Japanese-English Bilinguals
- Asian Diversity Career Expo
- National Society for Hispanic Professionals Job Fairs
- List of Diversity Career Fairs on the Multicultural Advantage website
Connect with ALANA Professionals
Networking is an essential skill to have for any successful career. A variety of professional associations were created for people of color:
- National Society for Hispanic Professionals
- National Association of Asian American Professionals
- Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement
- National Association for the Advancement of Colored People
- There are many similar organizations that are tailored to specific professions. Do some research and see where you can connect with professionals in your career field
Find a Mentor
Another great resource for networking is finding a mentor who can help you with your professional development. Mentors can share their experiences and sometimes help you land jobs or internships. A great place to start looking for a mentor is through the Alumni Career Mentoring Network offered at Keystone.
