New Student Orientation

The Keystone family would like to welcome you to Keystone College. In order to better prepare you for upcoming college life, we have created the Keystone Compass Orientation Program. This 2-part program consists of a Mapping Day during the summer and an overnight Keystone Compass Adventure Program just prior to the start of classes. All freshmen students are required to participate in both programs. New transfer, part-time, and students over the age of 23 are required to attend one mapping day only.

Any questions or concerns regarding New Student Orientation at Keystone College should be directed to the Office of Admissions at admissions@keystone.edu or 1-877-4COLLEGE, option 1.

Freshmen Mapping Days

Students will pick one of these full days dedicated to "mapping your first semester at Keystone College." You and your parent will take part in the following activities: course scheduling, technology training, meetings with faculty, student business services, financial aid, and placement testing. Mapping Days begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. and end at 5:00 p.m., please plan your day accordingly.

Freshmen Mapping Days are offered on the following dates. Schedules will be posted here in mid-May.

Keystone Compass Overnight Adventure Program

Friday morning August 22-Sunday August 24.

This 3-day, 2-night portion of Keystone's orientation program is mandatory for all new freshmen.  You will be part of an Adventure Group with 10-15 of your classmates, one upperclass student leader, and one member of the Keystone family. Your group will provide you with a small team of your peers to make the transition to campus life easier.  The friends you make, upperclass leaders, and Keystone family members will serve as mentors, guides, and informal advisors during your first semester at Keystone and throughout your education here.  Students will be traveling from campus for their adventures and stay at various area camps, state parks, and other recreation areas.

Group options include:

Hiking, acting/improv, rafting/paint ball, canoeing, creative writing/poetry workshop, environmental exploration, community outreach projects, rhythm & soul dance group, film review, radio/digital media production, and crime scene investigation.

Equipment needed:

In addition to a small daypack, heavy blanket or sleeping bag, students will need to bring appropriate clothing for outdoor activities including rain gear. Students are also responsible for personal toiletries.  Should a student need specific medications or have allergies, they should note this on their registration form and bring the appropriate medications or allergy treatments with them.

Cost:

The cost of the Keystone Compass Orientation Program is $150 per student and will appear as a charge on your first semester's bill. The cost covers all expenses related to the overnight program including food and sleeping arrangements. You do not need to enclose payment with your application.
