High School Art Workshops

If you're currently in high school and are serious about your art, consider participating in our six-week Regional Art High School Workshops series. Two nights a week for six weeks, participants will sample majors, expand their artistic skills, and develop their portfolio while experiencing what college life can be like for an art major.

Workshops usually run in April. Check back for 2014 dates.

• Awards Dinner: Tuesday, April 30 - 5:00 p.m.

Course Choices

Led by professional artists and designers who are Keystone alumni and part of our esteemed art department faculty, these workshops are designed with your future in mind. Choose your favorite, and two backup choices, and we will do our best to place you in the workshop of your choice.

• Painting
  Learn the properties of oil paint, preparation of a proper support, and the techniques used to successfully manipulate the material. Focus on painting from observation and the development of keen compositional skills.
• Kiln Formed Glass
  A fast paced introduction to the processes of creating kiln formed glass. Learn how to cut, fuse and slump sheet glass, and kiln cast. Introduces basic mold making and reinforces elements of 2-D and 3-D design through various projects.
• Figure Drawing
  Explore a number of approaches to drawing the figure while using a variety of materials. See your drawings improved as you work directly with a live model.
• Ceramics
  Create ceramic objects by hand using the methods of pinch, coil, and slab, explore raku firing, simple mold making, and functional and sculptural objects. Create forms that show a unique and personal vision.
• Printmaking
  Focus on the fundamentals of printmaking, with an emphasis on linoleum block and explore both standard and experimental printing to produce a small body of original work.
• Digital Illustration
  This class will explore digital illustration ranging from simple digital cartoons to more elaborate storytelling illustrations using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop software. Students will produce digital work for output as printed illustrations and digital presentations.
