Students must either take or test out of ENGL 050: Critical and Analytical Reading, in their first semester at Keystone College. The credits and quality points earned are included in student averages; however, these credits do not count toward fulfilling graduation requirements.
The academic advisor assists the student in planning his/her curriculum and in preregistration; however, the student is ultimately responsible for meeting the requirements of the curriculum selected. Not every course is offered every semester at every location. Course offerings are dependent on enrollment.
Minimum total credits required = 133 credits [132 or 134 possible if 4 credit lab science taken] Any variation from required sequence must be approved by adviser.
* The expectation is that students will participate in a minimum of 3 hours/week of field experience. Field experiences are integrated into coursework in each semester for the B.S. in Teaching: Art Education. They are generally scheduled Mon.-Fri., 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
** State Regulations for Stage 3 Field Observation require a minimum of 150 hours.
Additional Recommendations: Take additional art, education, or free elective course as needed in eighth semester. Coursework can be made up in eighth semester. Take summer courses to lighten course load during semesters. To concentrate in painting, ceramics, or sculpture, take the fundamental course for that concentration in third semester and another fundamental studio course must then be taken later in the program, perhaps where the chosen concentration fundamental had been positioned. If possible take EDUC 440 or other course providing content for teaching with technology in the classroom.
