Real World Experience


In-class instruction is supplemented by intentional, strategic work in authentic classroom settings and in a variety of early environments. Field experiences enhance content addressed in class, provide opportunities to connect one-on-one with faculty, introduce the community to Keystone’s emerging professional population, and illuminate regional employers where graduates may seek teaching positions. Students acquire leadership and management skills, agility in adapting to various work settings, and first-hand experiences in assessing the world of teaching.

Campus Opportunities

The Oppenheim Family Children’s Center, a state-of-the-art facility, constructed in 2004, is licensed to serve 94 children. Students have the ability to participate in a semester of fieldwork at the facility located on the La Plume campus.

Keystone students in the Early Childhood Education program will have an opportunity to work in the college's on-site day care center and preschool.

Student Teaching and Field Experiences

Field Experiences are required each semester and are arranged by the Education Field Coordinator. All clearances (Child Abuse, Criminal History, FBI, Health Appraisal) must be obtained by students on an annual basis prior to engaging in any field work.

Andrew Morrow, Towanda Area School District, Little Biggar Preschool & Day Care, Riverside School District, Little People Daycare, Mountain View School District, Precious Ones Daycare, Treasure House, West Scranton Head Start, and recreation centers.
