New - Starting Fall 2013
The BS in Public Health strives to prepare students for progressive independence, maturity, knowledge of the world, understanding of diverse inhabitants, and respect for their differing points of view. This degree is intended to convey technical detail and analytic skills, but with the liberal arts philosophical base, it also has the educational objectives of nurturing critical thinking, analysis, and synthesis of information, and recognizing the historical and societal associations of current trends in public health and health care delivery.
This curriculum will allow the students to incorporate many different aspects of a liberal arts education through the various specialization areas including: environmental health, public policy and administration, infectious disease epidemiology, health education, pre-medical, and biostatistics. In addition, this curriculum provides a pathway to medical and graduate schools for students in the health sciences and human services.
