Dr. Ian Saginor

Geology in Costa Rica

Image 1

Many people travel to Costa Rica, but few have the opportunity to see the country like we do.

Led by Dr. Ian Saginor, a volcanologist who has spent the past 9 years studying volcanoes throughout Central America and the Caribbean, this nine-day field course takes students from active volcanoes to unique rock formation found in only a few places on Earth. Students can witness eruptions, see volcanic bomb craters, and take a boat trip around the Santa Elena Peninsula.  Also, experience Costa Rica's diverse ecology from dolphins to monkeys to birds and butterflies.
