Puerto Rico - Public Health 301A, Spanish 102A, Sociology of Diversity 301A Trip Date: May 9 - 17, 2013 Courses in Global Health and Sociology of Diversity combine well in this Spanish language setting. Overlap of the three course curriculums include visits to the local school in Luquillo, the local Senior Center and meeting and talking with eh various speakers from pharmaceutical quality to law enforcement. This is a Spanish immersion course as well. Two different sides of the island are compared as well as the differences in governmental policies from a territory to a state. There is a visit to the Medical School in Ponce with a diversity workshop embedded there for both the medical school as well as the class. A visit to the hospital in Ponce is scheduled. Faculty Leaders: Joyce Avila and Dorothy Anthony The cost will be $1750.00. A $100 deposit is required to hold your seat. Program costs are billed as a lab fee and may qualify for financial aid. This cost includes: airfare, housing, transportation to and from Keystone and to all venues in Puerto Rico, excursions, entrance fees, classroom lecture space and technology requirements, academic visits and speakers, international health insurance.
