Field Experiences

Field experiences are an integral part of the education programs at Keystone College. Each field placement provides the student with an opportunity to experience a classroom, work with a teacher, observe the roles of support staff, and observe and work with children in a teaching and learning environment.

As students become more acquainted with the teacher and support staff, the children, and all classroom elements, they will gradually assume classroom responsibilities as directed by the classroom teacher. The student’s role will change from one of observer to active participant. Subsequently, students will be expected to engage in increasingly complex learning experiences.

Participation in field experiences is a requirement for all education and some psychology classes. Students can not pass these courses without completing required field experience assignments.

Required clearances need to be completed, and renewed annually, by an student wishing to participate in a field experience.
