President's Opening Convocation

bellThe President’s Opening Convocation means more than just an official welcome to campus and the start of a new semester. The event is steeped in ceremony and tradition, beginning with the ringing of the Sam Lilly Bell near Capwell Science Hall that signals the official call to Convocation.

Thurs., September 1, 2011, 12:30-2:00pm

Similar to the academic pageantry of commencement ceremonies in May, Opening Convocation features an academic procession of students, faculty, and administration, as they gather and walk to the Brooks Theater.

After a brief introduction, Keystone College President Dr. Edward G. Boehm, Jr., welcomes students to campus. The event continues with remarks from key faculty, administration, and student leaders, followed by a specially prepared video to help capture the true meaning and spirit of Keystone College.

After all in attendance join in the singing of the Keystone Alma Mater, the students receive their final instructions or “charge” for the upcoming year before the closing recession.
