Keystone College’s Linder Gallery will host an art exhibit featuring works by Pennsylvania artist Eileen Kopelman depicting the historic Battle of Wyoming, also known as the Wyoming Massacre, from April 18-29 at the Gallery, located in the Miller Library on campus.
There will also be an opening reception for the artist on Tuesday, April 18 from 4-6 p.m. at the gallery, located in Miller Library on campus. Both the exhibit and the opening reception are open to the public and free of charge.
About the Artist
Currently a resident of Lower Burrell in western Pennsylvania, Ms. Kopelman grew up on a dairy farm in Susquehanna County and graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She began her painting career at the age of 44 under the guidance of artist Carol Salyers.
About the Battle of Wyoming
Taking place near Wyoming, Luzerne County, in 1778, the Battle of Wyoming is an important part of the history of Northeastern Pennsylvania. The battle was an encounter during the American Revolutionary War between American patriots and loyalists supporting the British and aided by Iroquois raiders. More than 300 patriots were killed during the battle, which served as an inspirational symbol in the struggle for independence.
The Linder Gallery exhibitions are supported in part by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the Northern Tier Partners for the Arts.
